My Oscar kitty is gone

He died yesterday.

He came home as usual, but he was very very sick – so sick, I knew there was nothing that could be done. I wrapped him in a towel and pet him and sang to him. He’s gone.

Dixie asked me, “momma, why are you crying?”

I told her, “because Oscar has gone to live in heaven.”

She said, “like grandaddy?”

“Yes, Dixie, like grandaddy.”

“But I love Oscar, I don’t want him to go to heaven.”

“I know, Dixie – neither do I.”

“But one day we’ll be old and go to heaven too, and then we’ll see them again?”

“yes, Dixie. Some day.”

“Sunday? After church?”

It takes the mind of a 3 year old to put everything into perspective.

I will miss you, Oscar. You were so sweet and so good to Dixie. You didn’t run away from her pet and you often cuddled close to her.

BUSH SUCKS!

The thought that our President, and our government, think that in the interest of thwarting terrorism – that it is completely legal to spy on any one of us, sans the proper paperwork and authority – completely frightens me.

Where do we draw the line? Honestly. How many of our civil liberties will be violated and/or removed in the “interest of thwarting terrorism”? I think at some point, it will become a guise by which our government becomes even more corrupt.

I am very, very disturbed.

I am pissed that our government can and will spy on any one of us without authority to do so.  Why don’t we invest in protecting our borders first?  That way, there are less people to spy on in the first place!  I’m so angry that our country has gone SO downhill with this president.  Everyone is walking around pretending like everything is fucking roses, when in reality it’s like this:
Gas/Oil prices are higher
More war is taking place
Nukes, Nukes, Nukes
More countries than ever before are showing less support for the US
Our “surplus” is now the largest national deficit EVER
Lying is ok, as long as it’s the government
WTF?  How did half of America agree to this bullshit???

Dixie visits Santa, and has words of wisdom

Dixie was SO excited to go see Santa this year. She knew EXACTLY what she wanted, after all, we had written a letter to him already. When we wrote, she asked for exactly 3 things (in her words): A Dora birthday cake movie, a Dora leap pad game, and a Bratz doll.

Fast forward to Saturday, when we actually saw Santa. We waited over an hour, and finally the moment arrived. It was her turn! She smiled from ear to ear as she crawled up into Santa’s lap, eyeballing Mrs. Claus as if she was up to something. She sat up, tall and proud and told Santa, “I want a Rainbow Monkey and a pillow and a new kitchen!”

Then, she smiled oh so sweetly, wearing her title of “Spoiled”, proudly.

Now the words of wisdom part:

This morning she asks me for the 1209234349th time, “momma, what time till Santa gets here?”. I reply, “Another 19 days, Dixie. Only 15 more days till momma’s birthday!”. She says, “but then you will be a grown up?” and I say, “momma’s already a grown up.” To which she replies, “but then you won’t have birthdays anymore!” Who knew it was that easy, just be a grownup! No more birthdays!
