The first comment she made was “Dixie is very…Interesting!”

Moving forward, she showed me a test that Dixie did yesterday. It was a math test, counting money and then making decisions about what they had counted. Such as, is .45 cents more or less than .55 cents? etc. Her teacher told me that for their grade/age level it was considered a very difficult test. Most children got the money addition part right, but failed to answer the 2nd part correctly. Dixie got 100% on it; she seemed very impressed.

She went on to say that she always knows what Dixie is thinking, because she says it. However, her teacher doesn’t seem to have a problem with this, even if it’s somewhat interrupting the teaching moment. She encourages questions. Dixie is VERY inquisitive. Her teacher told me that she walks laps around the track with her during recess and they talk. She told me that she’s amazed that ALL the teachers and staff in the school know Dixie by name and say hello every time they see her.

Last year, Dixie LOVED her 1st grade teacher. I was so worried this year that whatever teacher she got wouldn’t measure up. While her teacher this year isn’t a replacement for her last one, she certainly is identifying well with her. Dixie often talks about conversations she has with her teacher and about her farm animals (her teacher has several and brings them to visit once in a while!).

Anyway, it made me smile from the inside out to hear such nice things about my girl. She seems like such a handful sometimes because she IS so inquisitive, but it’s evident that she’s just smart and curious so I try to keep my patience.
