Ode to 2009 – Cheers to 2010
Thank GOD it’s almost over. That’s right, I’m talking about 2009.
Stick a fork in it!
I’m SO ready for a different set of hurdles. I’ve been technically “unemployed” since August of 2008. This is also known as becoming an entrepreneur or as I prefer to call it, “broke as hell”. It’s been quite a year though, full of promise and innovation and most of all – collaboration. If I haven’t used enough buzz words for you yet – wait! I have more. ;)
I’ve met some incredible people, attended some awesome recruiting and social media events and helped to grow a site from just an idea into a working business model. Well, mostly working. When it makes money, then it will be 100% working. I’m confident that it will and I’m confident that will happen in 2010. Everyone that has supported this endeavor will bear witness and be able to say “I remember them when…”
This year has not been without its challenges, though. Believing in your dreams enough to forgo a steady paycheck can put a serious damper on your life in ways you hadn’t counted on. I’ve learned first hand and my skin is a bit thicker than it was when I started. I consider the experience to be life changing, regardless if my business succeeds or not. I have learned to live leaner and happier – spending more quality time with my family actually doing things together- at home! Did you know that fun doesn’t have to cost money? It’s true! Unfortunately, life is not free and I’ve come to the decision that I will be looking to re-enter the workforce in 2010. Whether it’s as a full time employee or a consultant – I know a great opportunity and challenge is waiting for me. I can’t wait to find it!
2010 is going to be a great year for me.
It’s going to be a great year for you, too.
I just know it!
