some people just don’t get it.
My last post was about this subject and I’m sorry to seem like I’m repeating myself but it’s very apparent that some people just don’t get it.
I was on Twitter today and saw a tweet from a local person who is known to work with charities and be a social media maven. The tweet spoke of the person’s birthday, how fabulous it had been and how they had been to 3 very expensive restaurants over the weekend.
I’m not going to name names and I’m not going to name the restaurants or give any other clues here, because I like this person a lot and don’t want to hurt their feelings.
However, if you are such an expert in social media and you work with homeless charities I think it’s in extremely poor taste to be discussing your expensive dinners on a social platform. Not that homeless families will read it and be hurt – that’s not the issue. There are those out there, though, who might be on the verge of being homeless. Lots of jobless families this holiday season means fewer presents under the tree and less food on the table. I wonder how many presents those 3 expensive meals would have bought?
No matter, if you are affluent you are entitled to spend your money how you please. Bragging about it, however, is just completely tasteless. /rant
What do you think? Do you think I’m being too sensitive or is this really inappropriate?
